Great storyThis heartwarming short story was great! I listened on Audible, and the narrator was terrific with all of the accents。 The comments were so funny because the group of older gentlemen are from the east coast, and I just love that culture and the accents and the food that they talk about。 This is a better neighborhood coming together to protect their neighborhood and their loved ones。

One of the elements of this book that I liked was the bravery of the average seniors。 Pigeon Tony looked out for the young members of his neighborhood。When I was a liile kid we knew our neighbors by name。 In fact, we able to visit each other。 Shame can't do this today。 Crime has cost us so much。 One of the elements of this book that I liked was the bravery of the average seniors。 Pigeon Tony looked out for the young members of his neighborhood。When I was a liile kid we knew our neighbors by name。 In fact, we able to visit each other。 Shame can't do this today。 Crime has cost us so much。 。。。more

A wonderful story of good winning over evil in an old neighborhood with the friendship of older gentlemen highlighting what we can all do when we work together。 Pigeon Tony, keeps his pigeons on his rooftop but one day when he and his friends were enjoying time together they see the neighbor boy stopped by the drug dealers on the corner。 This begins the story of how good can win over evil even if Tony's English is marginal and even if the apartments in the neighborhood are filled with tenants fr A wonderful story of good winning over evil in an old neighborhood with the friendship of older gentlemen highlighting what we can all do when we work together。 Pigeon Tony, keeps his pigeons on his rooftop but one day when he and his friends were enjoying time together they see the neighbor boy stopped by the drug dealers on the corner。 This begins the story of how good can win over evil even if Tony's English is marginal and even if the apartments in the neighborhood are filled with tenants from other places。 。。。more

Amazon asked several established authors to write a piece of short fiction using the prompt: "We Could Be Heroes。" They made the collection available for free on Kindle to Amazon Prime members。ThIs is Lisa Scottoline's entry into the collection。 She uses several characters from her previous works, but you do not need to have read any of them。 (I have not read them myself。) The "Tonys" are a group of four elderly men living in a neighborhood of south Philadelphia, three of whom share the nickname Amazon asked several established authors to write a piece of short fiction using the prompt: "We Could Be Heroes。" They made the collection available for free on Kindle to Amazon Prime members。ThIs is Lisa Scottoline's entry into the collection。 She uses several characters from her previous works, but you do not need to have read any of them。 (I have not read them myself。) The "Tonys" are a group of four elderly men living in a neighborhood of south Philadelphia, three of whom share the nickname Tony。 The fourth is named Matty。 They have befriended a neighborhood boy named Evo。 The Tonys gather on the roof of the brownstone where Pigeon Tony lives, and where he has built a pigeon coop for his racing pigeons。 From their rooftop viewpoint, they see drug dealers on a corner stop Evo and speak to him。 It turns out the pushers want Evo to act as a courier, and threaten him if he says no。 The Tonys feel it's up to them to protect Evo。I gave this 4 stars。 It's interesting to see senior citizens get a turn to be heroes, and the story is warm-hearted。 。。。more

Pigeon TonyWe all need a pigeon Tony! This is the kind of heartfelt I love! I wish it were this easy to erase the bad。 Especially when it comes to the kids。

Sometimes it takes more than one hero to get justiceThis was a solid audiobook with a really great performance。 The story is set in an Italian neighborhood in South Philly that face rising drug problems。 Wait for the law or do it yourself? fabulous I miss the Dinunnzio series! The Tony’s & Matt are the best characters! I would love to read more with the Tony’s because the laughter doesn’t stop!

Captivating。 This was an easy read; however, a great escape from long or a stressful day。 Regardless worth the time to sit down an enjoy a good book with a realistic ending。 Bravo to the author

NOTE: Only 53 of the 71 pages actually constitute the story。 The rest is filler about unrelated stuff。 It's a cute short story about a group of octogenarians saving the day for their neighborhood。 Requires a little suspension of disbelief, because anyone who exists in the real world would know that nothing would happen this easily。 Problem: so much time was dedicated to Pigeon Tony's wayward pigeon that took who knows how many days to find his way home - a subplot that added NOTHING to the story NOTE: Only 53 of the 71 pages actually constitute the story。 The rest is filler about unrelated stuff。 It's a cute short story about a group of octogenarians saving the day for their neighborhood。 Requires a little suspension of disbelief, because anyone who exists in the real world would know that nothing would happen this easily。 Problem: so much time was dedicated to Pigeon Tony's wayward pigeon that took who knows how many days to find his way home - a subplot that added NOTHING to the story - that the author forgot to mention whether or not little Evo was able to finish the school year。 。。。more

A cute story about neighborhood retaliationWhat would you do if a drug dealer asked your ten year old to run money for him? Well, these old folks got very creative。

I guess this Kindle Unlimited novella was a good introduction to Lisa Scottoline because I really enjoyed it and may look for more of her fiction。 A sweet, heart-warming story of young and old with immigration issues and drug dealing thrown in--as well as a missing racing piceon。

Such a cute short story with one of my favorite Tony’s。 Don’t underestimate what a group of people can do when the band together to make things better。

An entertaining short read - 72 pages。I have nor read anything by this author before but I am encouraged to read some of her other work, especially the crime/mystery novels。Not sure it was worth £1。99 as a short story on Kindle, but authors deserve to be rewarded for their work。

All of the Tony’s are much older and are scene stealers in the R&D series。 If you have read the series then you already know what you need to know about these characters that you have grown to love over the years。 If this is your introduction, the story may seem a bit ‘out there’ for you with the way the characters act。 Pigeon Tony’s Last Stand is a quick and enjoyable read for fans of the series。 The narrator did a great job。 I really hope Scottoline gets back to the R&D series, but it seems that she has a new love of writing historical fiction。 。。。more

PopSugar 2018 reading challenge #40An Italian immigrant who raises pigeons (yay!) decides he's going to step in when the law won't help keep gangs/criminals under control in his small community。 Honestly, they had me with the pigeons。 Really fun, fast-paced, and generally just a good addition to a collection of short stories。 PopSugar 2018 reading challenge #40An Italian immigrant who raises pigeons (yay!) decides he's going to step in when the law won't help keep gangs/criminals under control in his small community。 Honestly, they had me with the pigeons。 Really fun, fast-paced, and generally just a good addition to a collection of short stories。 。。。more

Perfect The Four Tonys are such great background characters and I am delighted they have their own story。 Scottline didn't let them - or me - down。 Enjoyable if you don't already know them, doubly so if you do。 Perfect The Four Tonys are such great background characters and I am delighted they have their own story。 Scottline didn't let them - or me - down。 Enjoyable if you don't already know them, doubly so if you do。 。。。more

A young boy is bullied by drug pushers who try to force him to become a courier。 Secondary story lines include Tony's heart problems and a missing pigeon。I was a little confused that the adults seemed to have Italian derivation, while the boy had a Croatian accent。 A young boy is bullied by drug pushers who try to force him to become a courier。 Secondary story lines include Tony's heart problems and a missing pigeon。I was a little confused that the adults seemed to have Italian derivation, while the boy had a Croatian accent。 。。。more
